The Side Effects of Evening Primrose Oil presented here are excerpted from Dr. Elson M. Haas' work Staying Healthy with Nutrition. - Side effects from the use of evening pprimrose oil are almost nonexistent. Some nausea may be experienced initially because of the oils, but this can be avoided if it is taken with food. Mild skin rashes or acne can occur occasionally; otherwise no problems have been noticed. The recommended amount is between 500 and 1,000 mg taken 2 or 3 times daily, with possibly higher doses (4-6 grams daily) for such problems as arthritis, asthma, or eczema.
